The Call of the Mountains

I have brought back some of the lovely objects from my travels, but the best are always the ones I find on my favourite walks around Lech.

The Lech River Trail connects three regions and two countries between its source in the Arlberg through the Tyrolean Nature Park region Lechtal-Reutte to the Lech Falls in the southern Allgäu. That means you can follow its course for several days. I set off at Formarinsee and walk as far as the Lech Valley. A pleasantly easy mountain walk, with wild flowers, woodlands, waterfalls, bridges and breathtaking views along the way.

Gehrengrat - Steinernes Meer - Formarinsee

There is an infinite number of things to see and do around the Formarinsee and Spullersee lakes. My favourite is still a hike from Spullersee to Formarinsee. It is a bit of a challenge, but unforgettable. Deer-watching on the Gehrengrat and then the view of the Steinernes Meer at the end are absolutely not to be missed! And maybe as a reward you'll find a fossil on the ancient "seabed".

The Höhenweg from Formarinsee to Oberlech is stunning. Travel light, take some time with you, and maybe you can stay overnight at the Göppinger Hütte and discover the Putzensee and other legends of the Lech mountains.

A hike to Omeshorn is perfect for keen mountain walkers. From the peak you have a fabulous view of Lech.
