The Restaurant

A contemporary Alpine table with French roots.

At the heart of Kristiania, dinner unfolds with ease, confidence and just the right amount of occasion. The cuisine is shaped by Alpine produce, French sensibility and a clear respect for flavour, season and restraint. This is not food that shouts. It is thoughtful, elegant cooking with warmth behind it — precise where it matters, generous where it counts, and always a pleasure to sit down to.

In the Kitchen

Currently in the Kristiania kitchen: Jurgen Dirkx, a Belgian chef and sommelier who brings French precision to an Alpine table. He led two Michelin-starred restaurants of his own in Belgium between 2008 and 2017, and now divides his year between his small Château in the Jura and the international kitchens he leads — Kristiania among them. "Cuisinier, c'est le geste."

The Cellar

A cellar shaped by curiosity as much as connoisseurship — Austrian growers at its heart, considered classics from Burgund and Bordeaux, and a quiet pleasure in finds from less-charted places. The kitchen and the cellar speak to one another easily, as they should in a house that takes both seriously.

Dinner, properly done

There is something deeply satisfying about a restaurant that knows exactly what it is. At Kristiania, that means candlelight, good timing, a view over Lech, and a menu that allows the evening to find its own rhythm. Some guests settle in for several courses and a very good bottle. Others prefer to keep things light, choose beautifully, and leave room for dessert. Both approaches are entirely understood here. The spirit is contemporary Alpine, touched by French craft and grounded in the pleasures of the season. Refined, yes — but never rigid. Dinner should feel delicious, atmospheric and entirely at ease.

The mood of the room

A meal at Kristiania is never only about the plate. It is also about the room, the company, the soft glow of evening and the particular pleasure of being exactly where you ought to be. Some tables are made for long conversation. Others for quiet enjoyment and a second glass of wine. We rather like both.
