Dining at Kristiania Lech with candlelight, Alpine character and a warm private-house atmosphere

Dining

Some meals are planned. The best ones tend to linger.

A table with a view, a bar with character, and a house that knows how to look after a moment properly.

At Kristiania, dining is part of the rhythm of the house. Breakfast may turn into lunch, cocktails may drift into dinner, and a simple fondue can become the evening everyone remembers. Some meals are quietly elegant, some are deeply comforting, and some are best improvised. All of them are unmistakably Kristiania.

The Restaurant

A contemporary Alpine table with a refined, generous spirit.

This is the culinary heart of Kristiania. A place for long dinners, candlelight, conversation and a view over Lech that never quite loses its effect.

The cuisine is rooted in the Alps, but never boxed in by them with French precision in the technique and Belgian-born chef Jurgen Dirkx in the kitchen. Seasonal ingredients drawn close to home, clear flavours and a quietly confident hand define the approach. Some dishes are made for sharing, others for lingering over, all of them for guests who appreciate food without unnecessary fuss around it. There is elegance here, certainly, but also warmth. Dinner at Kristiania should feel delicious, atmospheric and entirely at ease.

The Bar

Classic drinks, low lights, proper atmosphere.

Every house worth staying in should have a bar worth stepping into. Ours is for aperitifs, late-night conversations, classic cocktails and the agreeable possibility that one drink may become two.

The mood is discreet rather than showy, with just enough character to make it memorable. Come for a Negroni, a glass of Champagne, something perfectly cold, or something stirred the old-fashioned way. Stay because the room makes a convincing case for one more.

The Kaminzimmer

Firelight, fondue and the easier side of indulgence.

Not every evening asks for ceremony. Some ask for fondue, a good bottle of red and the pleasure of settling in properly. The Kaminzimmer is the softer, cosier side of dining at Kristiania. It is relaxed, characterful and wonderfully unhurried — the sort of place where comfort becomes an art form and the night tends to improve as it goes on. For guests who like their pleasures warm, familiar and very well done, this is often where the story ends.

Around the house

Some pleasures need no grand announcement.

There is breakfast taken properly, breakfast taken in bed, a lunch that turns out to be far better than planned, and afternoon tea that somehow always feels like an excellent idea. There is private dining when the occasion calls for it, and the comfort of staying exactly where you are and letting dinner come to you. At Kristiania, not every culinary moment needs a stage. Some are simply woven into the day, as they should be.

A few rarer pleasures

From time to time, the dining world of Kristiania stretches a little further — a private table in a more secluded setting, or a picnic laid out on snow or meadow, depending on the season and the mood. These are not the things one over-explains. They are the things one asks about.
