Yilmaz’s Favorite Things

In addition to his many catalogue contributions on artists such as Thomas Demand, Sarah Lucas, Paul McCarthy, and Rosemarie Trockel, he has also written regularly for renowned international art journals as well as the book The Art of Tommorrow.

He is the director of the Kunsthaus Bregenz since 2009 and a member of the acquisition committee for the Federal Republic of Germany's art collection.

  1. Believe it or not; the Kunsthaus Bregenz, built by one of my favorites architects ever, Peter Zumthor.
  2. The mountain „Pfänder" which is located right behind my apartment. I love to hike and in Winter sliding down the Pfänder with my sledge and in summer taking the cable car down and then jump into the Lake Constance.
  3. My books, at the moment especially Johann Holtrop by Rainald Goetz.
  4. My driver licens, which I never tried to get and the consequence that therefor always some caring people drive me around.
  5. The theater plays by René Pollesch. I love them so much that I even have stolen the title of one of them („Love is Colder then Capital") for our next group exhibition at the Kunsthaus.
  6. My dvds, at the moment especially „The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant" by Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
  7. Jil Sander, almost everything she and Raf Simons did.
  8. My CDs, especially the albums by my all time favorite band XIU XIU.
  9. „Rootsy" a collage by visual artist Kai Althoff, which is hanging in my bedroom since over 15 years now.
  10. Penne all'arrabbiata, one of the few dishes I can cook without a cook book, or eating a Schnitzel in one of the great traditional restaurants in Vorarlberg.
